March 2011Consultant Cardiologist Professor Andrew J. Stewart Coats now sees patients at 127 Harley Street.

Professor Andrew J. Stewart Coats is a world renowned Cardiologist who is again offering private cardiology services at 127 Harley Street, after returning from 9 years in Australia. He completed his undergraduate medical training at Oxford University and Cambridge Universities with first class honours from both coming top of his year. Andrew holds higher doctorates from Oxford and Imperial College and an MBA from the London Business School.
He has held the positions of Professor at Imperial College, London, Stanford, the University of Sydney, the Chinese University of Hong Kong and Humboldt University in Berlin.

In the 1990’s he has been Clinical Director of Cardiology at the Royal Brompton Hospital and Deputy Medical Director of the Royal Brompton and Harefield NHS trust. He has been Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Deputy Vice-Chancellor at the University of Sydney. He has published in excess of 500 research papers, 10 text books and chapters and has more than 22,000 career citations. He has received the Linacre Medal from the Royal College of Physicians and the inaugural Melvin L Marcus award from the American Heart Association. His practice encompasses all aspects of adult cardiology, in particular the management of difficult and unusual hypertension, lipid disorders, cardiomyopathy, heart failure, and angina.

He has led the steering Committee of many landmark trials in Cardiovascular Medicine.
